Welcome to Subhadra Mahatab Seva Sadan (SMSS)

The Subhadra Mahatab Seva Sadan (SMSS) is a name to be reckoned with in the field of child and woman care. Popularly known as SMSS, the organization came to being in 1980 catering to the needs of the hapless women and children. Since its inception the SMSS has been providing necessary help and support to the down-trodden and marginalized section of people in the society during 30 years of its successful journey. It is championing the cause of neglected and abandoned children including orphans, destitute women particularly tribal people and others. The SMSS was primarily set up at G.Udayagiri in Kandhamal district of Odisha, India. The place is a picturesque one gifted with natural bounties and is surrounded by forests and hills. G.Udayagir is 220 kms away from the state capital Bhubaneswar. The visitors to this hilly place are enthralled at the scenic beauty. G.Udayagiri was known as the head office of the SMSS earlier. But now Bhubaneswar is the head office and epi-centre of the activities of the SMSS.

The SMSS is a pioneering organization in Odisha in operating programmes in the field of child welfare, women welfare and senior citizens’ welfare. With patronage of a few generous people and organisation the SMSS has been able to spread its activities to Ganjam and Khurda districts besides Kandhamal. SMSS is grateful to Ado, Spain for its help and collaboration.

Ado has become an all-weather friend of SMSS since 1999. At that time the Ado was known as Amigos De Odisha (ASMSS). After super cyclone in Odisha in 1999 the erstwhile ASMSS (Presently Ado) came to rescue of SMSS by extending generous financial co-operation to SMSS for reconstruction of its cyclone –ravaged buildings of Old Age Home at Gopalpur-on-sea, Children Homes buildings in Bhubaneswar, living rooms of children at G. Udayagiri . ASMSS took up construction of Banashree Girls High School buildings and hostel at G.Udyagiri. Since then the Ado has not looked back with SMSS and has been continuing its support and financial co-operation. The Ado has proved to be a friend of SMSS in need indeed and its contribution for the wellbeing and prosperity of down-trodden people through SMSS will go a long way towards protecting the interests of the marginalised section in the society. Ado has offered timely co- operation for taking up various socio-developmental programmes to the SMSS.

Thanks to friends of Ado, who are busy designing the socio programmes for SMSS. The SMSS has proved to be a catalyst of change and taken up various programmes to bring the neglected people to the mainstream of society.

The programmes taken up by the SMSS include home for orphans, short stay home for destitute women, placement of abandoned children, vocational training in tailoring for SC girls, creech for pre-school children, non-formal education, formal education, health programme, old age home, Day care centre for senior citizens, computer training and Lion’s club AM-Van Antwerpen children’s home, textile and handicraft programmes and Swadhar Scheme.
